Validity Of A Study Permit

A study permit is usually valid for the length of your study program, plus an extra 90 days. The 90 days let you prepare to leave Canada or apply to extend your stay – ensure that your visitor visa/eTA is valid when you return. China, India, Morocco, Pakistan, the Philippines, Senegal or Vietnam foreign nationals are eligible to get their study permit processed through Student Direct Stream (which usually takes only 20 calendar days for processing). A study permit is not a visa and does not, by itself, allow you to travel to or enter Canada. You may also need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA). If you do, visa office will issue the visitor visa or eTA with the study permit.
